The DEST detects eye problems in children as young as 6 months. It screens for problems in visual acuity and for non-straight eyes, including strabismus, refractive error, and amblyopic. Included are the E Test, the Picture Card Test, Fixation Test, Alternate Cover Test, and the Pupillary Light Reflex Test. It is for use by health professionals, Headstart, daycare, and social services personnel.

Contains the materials required for vision screening. Test forms and instruction manual not included.

Designed for those who will administer the DEST; to be used with the DEST Training Videotape (see below). Explains DEST procedures and includes written questions and answers. Minimum seventh grade reading ability required: 37 pages.

Similar to Manual/Workbook but does not contain written questions and answers: 24 pages.

A videotape which illustrates the techniques of screening for vision problems and tests the students' proficiency. For use by those who will administer the DEST. Must be used with DEST Manual/Workbook (see above). Length: Training, 35 minutes: proficiency, 11 minutes.
