DENVER II
FIFTY-THIRD MASTER INSTRUCTOR TRAINING

May 6 th & 7th 2010

TRAINING HELD AT WARWICK HOTEL, DENVER, COLORADO

The Denver Developmental Screening Test (DDST) has been extensively revised and restandardized as the DENVER II. The standardization was conducted in 1988/1989 with more than 2000 children participating. The DENVER II consists of 125 items, spanning birth to 6 years. Changes from the DDST include more language items, fewer report items, and norms for subgroups (based on maternal education, ethnicity, place of residence, and sex) when these norms differ significantly from the average. The emphasis in interpretation is changed from the DDST to compare a given child with the developmental norms of a cross section of the population much as in the use of growth curves for height, weight, etc.

The training consists of two days of instruction for those who wish to administer the DENVER II and/or become Master Instructors, training others in the use of the DENVER II.

Participants will learn how the Denver Developmental Screening Test was revised and restandardized as the DENVER II and will learn to administer and interpret the DENVER II.

No previous training in the DDST or DENVER II is required. At this training there will be all levels of expertise.

During this session, participants will: engage in supervised hands-on testing of children; be given a written proficiency test at the end of the session; be asked to practice testing with a number of children after returning home; and be required to send a videotape of their best test to the DENVER II office to be scored and critiqued. Upon passing the written proficiency test and the videotaped test, a Master Instructor certificate will be issued from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.
